Ginger (Zingiber officinale)
Ginger is a rhizome (root) that has been purported to exert a variety of powerful therapeutic and preventive effects and has been used for thousands of years for the treatment of hundreds of ailments from colds to cancer. Ginger is an antioxidant, anti-inflammatory agent, anti-nausea compound, and anti-cancer agent as well as some reported antiviral properties.
In addition to health benefits ginger has been known to spice up food and drinks. Ginger is used in numerous forms, including fresh, dried, pickled, preserved, crystallized, candied, and powdered or ground. The flavor is somewhat peppery and slightly sweet, with a strong and spicy aroma.
3 Organic Ginger Rhizomes Included
These ginger rhizomes are for planting so they may have rhizomes that have already started growing.
Ginger is one of the easier plants to grow. Just place one rhizome in the soil face up with the nodes facing up about 3-4" in the soil. Plant 4-6" apart in rows 1-1/2 to 2' apart, and cover with 1-2" of fine soil. Plant rhizomes in a warm sunny location with rich, well-drained soil.
Ginger doesn't survive in weather cooler than 65F.
